Yale Graduate Students

 
The Residential Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and sustaining a positive learning environment and community both during the CTW summer intensive and throughout the fellowship year. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the residential program, the Coordinator trains, supervises, and mentors a team of undergraduate residential teaching assistants and is responsible for the overall health, safety and well-being of the thirty program participants living on campus. Program dates are July 13 to July 25, preceded by staff training sessions on July 11 and 12. The Coordinator will receive full room and board from July 11-26 and must live on campus in Yale’s dormitories from Sunday through Friday. 
 
Responsibilities 
  • In support of the overall mission, plans, coordinates, and oversees the day-to-day operations and communications of the CTW summer intensive
  • Participates in the hiring and training of residential teaching assistants
  • Organizes and sets expectations for students and staff, acting as a resource and support to them.
  • Serves as the point person for handling and communicating any student issues as they arise, enforces program rules, and participates in community building
  • Reports facilities issues and requests and follows up with YCE when necessary
  • Organizes and co-leads CTW’s annual parent meeting, student and staff orientations, bimonthly fellowship meetings, and other events as needed
  • Reserves rooms, orders refreshments and conducts any necessary set up for events and programming
  • Works closely with CTW program faculty, Yale Conferences & Events, and Yale’s Office of New Haven and State Affairs. May perform other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications 
  • Current Yale graduate students in the humanities and social sciences preferred 
  • Well-developed managerial, decision-making, planning, organizational, problem-resolution and leadership skills
  • Strong academic record with interest in the humanities 
  • A love of reading, writing, and reflecting on fundamental questions 
  • Experience working in a mentoring, advising or teaching capacity 
  • Commitment to working with youth from backgrounds historically underrepresented in higher education, including low-income and first-generation college students 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to drive preferred
 
Compensation: $4,000 summer stipend plus room and board from July 11-25; $20/hour during the academic year
 

 
 
The Administrative Coordinator will coordinate and administer the operations, logistics, and communications for the CTW residential summer program and year-long fellowship program. The Coordinator will be responsible for organizing the CTW nomination, application, and admission process, marketing and communications, and events management. 
 
Responsibilities 
  • In support of the overall mission, plans and oversees programmatic activities
  • Develops and maintains operational policies and procedures
  • Manages program communications and assists in program promotion, including updates to the website and drafting press releases
  • Organizes and oversees the CTW nomination, application, and admission process
  • Maintains program files and assists with data collection and reporting
  • Works closely with CTW program faculty and staff, Yale’s Office of New Haven Affairs, and other relevant stakeholders
  • May perform other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications 
  • Current Yale graduate students in the humanities or social sciences preferred

Compensation: $20/hour
